NEVADA TRANSCRIPT JANUARY 6 & 7, 1863 7 Dooling vs. Cregan, judgment for plaintiff. COUNTY COURT.—Stevens vs. his creditors, and James Smith vs. his creditors, stricken from the calendar. Howard vs. Cunningham, motion to dismiss appeal overruled. Counsel for plaintiff given one day to amend complaint and defendant five days to answer. Robinson vs. C. C. Townsend, demurrer to complaint overruled. PLENTY OF WATER.—AIl the ditches at Quaker Hill are full and the miners in that vicinity commenced operations yesterday. Expect to hear, soon, of immense quantities of gold being brought from that section of the county. The claims of Messrs. Jacobs and Sargent have undergone a thorough overhauling. They are now ready to commence to take out thousands of dollars. For the past week we have had a glorious rain, enabling all to go to work in their claims. Hundreds of men in this vicinity have been patiently waiting for water, and now they have plenty to commence on. We shall have good times shortly, plenty of money and plenty of items—of big strikes. Messrs. Sneath & Clay on Gold Flat continue to take out cartloads of rock, filled with the bright ore. An offer of $100,000 was made to one of the parties, a short time since, for one-third, and was refused. A million or so of dollars will be taken out of this claim before Sneath & Clay will get through with it. RELIGIOUS NOTICE.—The Annual Meeting of the First Congregational Church in Nevada, for the choice of officers, and other business, will be held at the Brick Church on Wednesday evening, Jan. 7th at 7 o’clock. The officers, Trustees and all the members of the Church are specially requested to attend. POST OFFICE PRINTING.—The Democrat and Journal took a square swear last night for the Post Office printing. The circulation of the Democrat in the districts in which letters are distributed from the office in this city is 355, that of the Journal 274. The contract was awarded to the former. Parson, don’t you know you are entitled to the list “from the fact that you have the largest circulation?” Charles A. Beard was yesterday admitted to practice in the County Court of this County. ST. PATRICK’S BALL! TUESDAY, MARCH 17th, 1863!! Messrs. THOS. WILSON & LUKE McLAUGHLIN Would hereby give notice that they will give a Grand Social Ball, at Temperance Hall. ON TUESDAY EVENING, MARCH 17th. The public is respectfully invited to attend. WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 7, 1863 DISTRICT COURT, Jan. 6.—Dalton vs. Boyle—Decree heretofore returned ordered to be set aside, and plaintiff’s attorney required to prepare another in accordance with findings of the court. Rogers vs. Soggs.—A motion for a new trial overruled, and exception taken by plaintiff’s council [sic].
