NOTICE is hereby given that the partnership existing between A. H. Hanson, Charles C. Leavitt and M.
S. Hamilton under the name of A. H. Hanson & Co. will become dissolved on the first day of January 1865, by
limitation. A. H. HANSON & Co.

BIRTH. At Austin, Lander county, Nevada. January 2d [or Ist], to the wife of [Edward] Wheaton a
daughter. [The child died on January 4th.]
MARRIED. At Little York, Jan. 1st, by R. McGoun, Justice of the Peace, [Benjamin] L. Remington
to Mrs. S. E. Aheren
DISGRACEFUL.—Some rascal turned off the gas during the ball of the colored people at Grass
Valley on Monday night.
ELECTION OF OFFICERS.—At a regular meeting of Brooklyn Lodge, No. 46, I.0.0.F., held at
Red Dog on the 30th of December, the following officers were elected for the ensuing term: J. C. Garber,
N.G., R. McGoun, V.G., Charles H. Hannan, R.S., Alonzo H. Mulloy, Treas.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undersigned have this day formed a co-partnership under the firm name of
LEAVITT & HAMILTON and will continue the Grocery and Provision business at the old and well known stand, “No.
52 Broad Street,” in Kidd and Knox’s block.

THURSDAY, JANUARY 5, 1865
NEW MILL.—We understand that the mill erected by E. H. Gaylord and N. W. Knowlton at Dixie
[Gold Run], in Placer county, has been completed and was set in motion for the first time on last Monday.
It is an eight stamp water mill, and is designed to crush cement for the “Blue Lead.”
NEW YEAR’S GIFT.—Rev. [P.] L. Haynes, of North San Juan, whose eloquent appeals in behalf
of our country’s cause, during the late Presidential campaign, so electrified the people of the ridge and
of this city this city, was on New Year’s day presented by the loyal citizens of North San Juan and the
neighboring towns, with a solid manifestation of their appreciation of his efforts, in the shape of a purse
containing $500 in gold. Mr. Haynes has, during his brief residence in North San Juan, won the cordial
esteem and regard of his loyal neighbors, and the compliment is fully due to his worth as a citizen, patriot
and preacher.
