24 JANUARY 6-8, 10-11, 1865 NEVADA TRANSCRIPT
FRIDAY, JANUARY 6, 1865
THE THEATRE.—We understand that work will be commenced upon the new Theatre today. The
contract for the brick work and also for the wood, has been let, and the work will be pushed forward
with all celerity. The company design to move the front wall of the building out to the sidewalk, thus
increasing the depth of the house about five feet. It is also designed to make an addition for the stage,
at the back part of the house. The building is to consist of a main floor and two fine galleries. We are
glad that the Trustees are going to work with the determination to make the building commodious and
comfortable. When it is completed, few towns in the State will have the advantage of Nevada in a theatre
or hall.
ARTILLERY COMPANY.—We understand that E. W. Brown, Esq., of this city has applied to the
Governor for a commission to raise a Company in this county for the Artillery service. Mr. Brown is a
member of the Light Guard, and has had considerable experience both in the Infantry and Cavalry service.
We hope he may secure the commission.
