NEVADA TRANSCRIPT JUNE 1 & 3, 1865 305 BEAR VALLEY, And is prepared to accommodate all in as good style as at any other House in the State. The House has been built and handsomely furnished throughout—having room enough for forty persons. The Table will contain the best of food—equal if not superior to any House in this county. Fishing and Hunting.—There is no place in this section equal to Bear Valley, for fishing and hunting. The Dancing Hall is the largest and best in the county. Suppers and Music furnished on short notice. SATURDAY, JUNE 3, 1865 HEARD FROM.—We received a letter yesterday from Hon. Seth Martin, of You Bet. He was Eastward bound and had reached Panama. He will return to this county in July next. CHANGE OF LOCATION.—George R. Crawford is fitting up the fine brick store on the corner of Broad and Pine streets and will move into it about the 15th of the month. THE GLENBROOK PARK.—On last Thursday we took a ride down to the Glenbrook Park and found it in splendid condition. The track has been put in magnificent order by Charley Osborn. The turns are improved, the course has been plowed, harrowed, rolled, and all the rocks removed, and is now the best on the coast. A large and comfortable stand has been erected and furnished with seats for the accommodation of ladies, from which they can obtain a splendid view of the racing. We visited the stables where the race horses are kept and found a large number of excellent stalls. Six or eight horses have already arrived and are getting ready for the races which commence on the 13th inst. Several of the horses contested for the purses which were recently offered in San Francisco and are among the best in the State. In some of the stalls we noticed some fine looking stock owned in this county which is to be entered for the county purses. “Sweetwater,” “Blue Dale,” “Finnegan” and “Pilot are in splendid condition and look as though they would make a big dash for some of the purses. SUDDEN DEATH. Fletcher Barron died of appoplexy [sic] in this city on Wednesday night at 9 o’clock. He had been working upon the Broad street bridge for about a week. On Wednesday, about 5 o’clock, he complained of his head feeling bad and said that his face felt as though it were covered with pepper. A gentleman who was working with him advised to go and wash. He went into a shop near by, and after washing sat upon a block. He was soon taken with a fit. J. C. Abbott and others took him to the New York House and medical aid was called. Barron never spoke afterwards. Deceased has been in the State for more than six years, having come here from Chenango county, New York, where he has friends residing. FIRE.—The residence of J. C. Dickerman, opposite the Court House, took fire, it is supposed from the kitchen chimney, on Wednesday last about 6 o’clock. The alarm bells were sounded and the hose companies were quickly upon the ground, but the fire was subdued by a garden hose before the connection with the hydrants, by the companies. But little damage was done to the property. FAST DAY AT OMEGA .—The people of Washington township assembled at Omega en masse for the observance of the National Fast Day on Wednesday last. The Washington Brass Band discoursed splendid music and the Stars and Stripes were hoisted upon a new and splendid staff. The Hon. A. A. Sargent delivered an oration to a very large and attentive audience. THE ROUND TENT RANCH FOR SALE.—The Round Tent House and Ranch are advertised in today’s TRANSCRIPT for sale. The ranch is located a short distance below Spenceville, and contains a large amount of valuable farming and grazing land. The house is in excellent condition.
