510 OCTOBER 31, 1865 NEVADA GAZETTE apparently watching the game, and borrowed a knife of another bystander to cut his nails. While his friends were engaged in the game, he quietly walked out back of the saloon and cut a frightful gash in his throat and another in each arm, from which the blood flowed profusely. The cut in the throat was on the left side, but fortunately the jugular was not cut, and he was discovered in time to save his life.
