SATURDAY, DECEMBER 23, 1865 CHINESE DINNER.—Several citizens of this place were, a la Colfax, invited to a Chinese dinner, by one of the merchant princes of Commercial street, on Thursday last. Of course they accepted, and were on hand at the appointed time. The tables would have been creditable to the best hotel. Many choice dishes, according to American taste, as well as the most delicious Chinese viands were provided in profusion. The dinner was given by Hee Kee, and his guests speak of it as one of the best meals they ever sat down, to “make way with.” AFTER CHICKENS.—We learn that several shots were fired at a Chinese chicken thief a few nights since by a citizen of this place. John made a hasty retreat without a chicken. ROUGH ROADS.—Those who have had occasion to go to Sacramento, report the roads exceedingly rough between Grass Valley and Colfax.
