76 FEBRUARY 23 & 24, 1865 NEVADA GAZETTE THE best thing for a burn is the following, and every family ought to know it: As soon as possible after the burn, throw a little green tea into hot water; let it steep. Stir up an Indian meal poultice. Spread the tea leaves on the poultice, put it on the burn or scald, whichever it may be. If burnt with powder, it will take it out and the skin will be as clear as ever. FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 24, 1865 MARRIED. On the 22d instant, by E. W. Smith, J.P., MR. LOUIS GUICETTI to MISS AUGUSTA HONE, all of this city. A bottle of sparkling Heidsieck accompanied the above notice, and the health and happiness of the newly wedded pair were duly pledged in brimming beakers. Long may they live and love. COUNTY COURT.—HON. A. C. NILES PRESIDING—FEBRUARY TERM.—The Court met yesterday morning when the following business was transacted: The People vs. C. F. Brown—Indicted for an assault with intent to do great bodily injury. The jury returned a verdict of guilty as charged in the indictment. The prisoner was ordered to appear for sentence on Monday morning next. Court adjourned till ten o’clock this morning. INSANE.—An insane German named Fritz Burckhardt was brought in from the County Hospital on Tuesday last, and committed to jail. He was examined by a committee of physicians last night, and today will doubtless be ordered to Stockton by the County Court. Our cotemporaries will please remember that this is our lunatic—we found him. EPISCOPAL FESTIVAL.—We learn that the festival given on Wednesday evening at Hamilton Hall, Grass Valley, for the benefit of the Episcopal Church, was a very pleasant affair. The attendance was large and the tableaux splendid. The evening’s entertainment closed with dancing. INAUGURATION BALL.—We learn that the dwellers on the Ridge in the vicinity of San Juan have it in contemplation to give an inauguration ball on the evening of the 3d of March. It will be given in the Theater, and will undoubtedly be a fine party. DISCHARGED.—John L. Burbridge, arrested on Tuesday last for shooting at Tom Dubois, and tried before Justice Smith on Wednesday, came into Court yesterday morning and after a few words of good advice from the Judge, was permitted to go his ways. MASQUER ADE.— Encouraged by the success of the fancy dress party on Wednesday night, we understand that it is already in contemplation to give a masked ball at the Theater as soon as that edifice shall be completed. BRICK.—The supply of brick in town appears to be limited, and the old walls of the Episcopal church are being taken down to partially supply the demand. THE rule of acting without regard to consequences, is followed by two classes, the confirmed wicked, and the rigidly virtuous.
