Clerk, to become citizens: William Hart and David Kaskays, natives of England, William McPherson, a
native of Scotland, and David Moriarity, a native of Ireland.
A COACH AND SIX.—A fine Concord coach, newly painted and trimmed, and drawn by six
horses, was yesterday placed on the line between Nevada and Colfax, thereby rendering the trip
somewhat more comfortable than being dragged over the road in a lumbering old mud wagon.
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 25, 1866
BORN. At North San Juan, April 16th, the wife of N. C. Miller, a son.
At Austin, Nevada State, April 17th, the wife of Robert Cullen, a daughter.
A NEVADAN MURDERED. Thos. Mackay, formerly a resident of Nevada, was murdered at Buena
Vista Bar, Idaho, on the 26th of March, by a man named Dunn. There had been a difficulty
between them last Summer, in which Mackay shot at Dunn, inflicting a slight wound. At the
time Mackay was killed, he was walking along the street, where Dunn fired at him from four
to six shots, three of which took effect, killing him instantly. Dunn immediately took to the
hills, but was pursued, overtaken, and committed to jail for examination.
ATTACHED.—-Attachments to the amount of about $1,800 were yesterday levied upon the goods of
A. Baruh, dealer in groceries and provisions, Main street.
THURSDAY, APRIL 26, 1866
DROWNED. A little daughter of George W. Jones, who resides at Willow Valley, fell into the ditch
on Tuesday afternoon, and was drowned. The child was about a year and a half old, and had
been missed from the house not to exceed five minutes, when it was found lying on its back
in the ditch, with its mouth and nose out of water. It was immediately taken to the house and
every effort made to resuscitate it, but without avail.
IN TOWN.—Governor Frederick F. Low, accompanied by the Attorney General, McCullough,
arrived in town, from Sacramento, yesterday afternoon. The Governor is stopping with his old friend, Ira
Eaton, at the Union Hotel.
PERSONAL.—We had the pleasure yesterday of meeting Charles Marsh, who arrived in the Colfax
stage, having returned from the East by the last steamer.
DECLARATION.—Joseph Hebert [sic], a native of Canada, declared his intention yesterday, in the
Clerk’s office, to become a citizen of the United States.
DISTRICT COURT.—In the District Court, the case of Pralus vs. Pralus, set for trial yesterday, was
continued until to-day.
FRIDAY, APRIL 27, 1866
LIBRARY MEETING.—A meeting of the stockholders of the North San Juan Library Association
will be held at the Library Room in that place, on Thursday next, May 3d....
