NEVADA TRANSCRIPT APRIL 24, 27, 29, 1866 99
Allison Ranch, on the 8th of January, 1865, was sentenced by Judge McFarland, yesterday, to be hung on
Wednesday, May 30th, 1866. On being asked by the Judge if he had anything to say why sentence should
not be passed upon him, he replied: “Judge, it is idle for me to say anything, but I will say this much,
that you are about to pass sentence upon an innocent man and may God have mercy upon you.” Judge
McFarland then reviewed the case and passed the sentence as above.
FRIDAY, APRIL 27, 1866
PARTY BUILDING.—The President seems to be earnestly engaged in the work of reconstructing
the “Democratic” party. After having appealed to the people and failing to get their indorsement, he has
“changed his base” and is now, by a corrupt use of his patronage, endeavoring to muster a Johnson party.
His war upon Congress has failed to make him a leader and he is now engaged in parceling out Federal
offices to men who are base enough to pay the price he asks... .

CHARTER ELECTION.—The charter election will be held in this city tomorrow week.
