GRASS VALLEY UNION MAY 7, 1872 107
LEG BROKEN.—Father Dalton had the misfortune, Friday night, of breaking his leg. The way
it happened was about this: He returned from Colfax, from a mission of mercy. and thought he
was stepping on a sidewalk in front of his residence. The sidewalk had, however, been taken up for
repairs during his absence from home. Father Dalton fell with the result named. The injury is quite
severe and will confine him to the house for some time. Drs. Simpson and Tompkins were called to
the case, and the bones have been adjusted. ...
NORTH STAR SUPERINTENDENT.—We find in the Amador Ledger, of last Saturday, this item:
Mr. S. Moore, for a number of years underground Superintendent of the Keystone mine at
Amador city, we learn is about to leave the county. Mr. M. by his strict attention to business
and fair course of dealing has made many warm personal friends who, with ourselves, will
regret his departure. We understand Mr. Moore has accepted a situation at Grass Valley
similar to the one he held at Amador. We congratulate his employers in obtaining the
services of so efficient and upright a man for Superintendent of their mine.
Mr. Moore is to take charge of the North Star mine of this place.
LEAVES US.—Ned McSorley leaves Grass valley, to-day, for Schellburn, in Nevada State. Ned
has been a citizen of this county for many years and has made hosts of the very best kind of friends.
The Schellburnites are hereby recommended to receive and treat well our friend, Ned McSorley.
