GRASS VALLEY UNION MAY 28 & 29, 1872 125 THE GREAT SAN FRANCISCO CIRCUS AND ROMAN HIPPODROME. THE Managers of this Colossal Establishment has, with very great care and expense inaugurated this the Great Show of 1872, with the intention of traveling from the Pacific to the Atlantic Slope, and to compete in friendly rivalry for the palm of superiority with any Circus they may meet. JACK THE GIANT-KILLER This Grand Entertainment, gives the greatest satisfaction to its patrons of any amusement that has been placed before any audience, and has been acknowledged by the Press, the Public and the Profession, to be, in every respect, superior to any and all other performances extant. 19,000 PERSONS Visited this Circus the first week in San Francisco, and the general verdict of all was, the Best Circus we have ever seen. The performers are all first-class, amongst whom is the great MATTHEWS FAMILY, TEN IN NUMBERS, Who have been for a number of years, Acknowledged the Best Artists in the Profession. THE HORSES AND PONIES Surpass anything ever seen in a similar establishment. Their training being perfect, they have no superiors, no equals.
