that has been raging for the past three or four days has been the severest this Winter, and
nothing can be done toward getting trains running until the weather abates. The cuts are
reported to be filled with snow, and there is between two and three feet of snow on the
plains. It will be impossible for trains to run regularly until the snow melts.
Superintendent Fillmore returned last night, worn out from exposure and fatigue.
There are from twenty to fifty passengers on the different passenger trains at Laramie. The
citizens are almost entirely out of fuel; there are but four car loads in the yard, and no more
can be obtained until the road is opened... .
PREACHING.—Rev. Peter Killingsworth will preach a birth-day sermon at the African
Methodist Episcopal Church next Thursday evening at the usual hour. The old man is 81 years of age,
is a native of Georgia and has been a slave. Friends are invited to attend. The sermon will be based
on the 80th Psalm. The good old man should have a large audience on the occasion.
