4 JANUARY 5 & 6, 1875 GRASS VALLEY UNION Valley for a mining Company. Penn Valley has always been considered, heretofore, as the best farming portion of this county, and we do not yet believe that anybody has found any lead of gold under the broad and fertile meadows of that valley. The attorneys in the case are Hamilton & Dunlap for the plaintiff, and Dibble & Byrne and Searls for the defendant. In the case of Nixon and others vs. McCarthy and others, an order was made and entered that W. F. Cummings be made a party defendant. The Court adjourned until this morning at 10 o’clock. I.0.0.F.—At the regular meeting of Union Encampment No. 11, I.0.0.F. held Sunday evening January 2nd, the following officers were installed for the present term, by D.D.G.P., Frank G. Beatty: C.P., S. Beverton; H.P., Alexander Harry; S.W., W. H. Totten; Scribe, Z. T. Smith; Treasurer, Alexander Sims, Jr.; J.W., W. H. Bucket [sic]; Guide, John Webber; O.S.S., William Maier; L.S.S., James Davey; ist W., C. C. Smith; 2nd W., John Pasco; 3rd W., J. M. Neugschwendtner; 4th W., E. C. Webster; 1st G. of T., Victor Granholm; 2nd G. of T., E. G. Roberts.
