304 NOVEMBER 3 & 4, 1886 GRASS VALLEY UNION plurality of from 6000 to 10,000. In Milwaukee the Labor party carried everything by storm, indicating the election of the entire Labor party county ticket. Chicago—Returns indicate the Republicans will have a majority in both city and outlying towns. Omaha—Republican State ticket elected by over 25,000 majority. Congressman James Lord, 21 district, and G. W. Dorsey, 31 district, re-elected. Persons and Things. The weather was delightful yesterday and voters had no excuse for staying at home. Nevada City polled 1110 votes yesterday; Truckee 280; and Colfax 225. Heavy frosts every night now. There was a freeze on Monday night. The highest and lowest temperature in 24 hours yesterday was 68° and 24°. At the Presidential election of 1884 East Grass Valley Precinct polled 599 votes, and the West 533—total 1132. At the election yesterday the East Precinct polled 620 votes, and the West 563—total 1183. Personal. John T. Morgan and family have returned home to Nevada City after an extended trip through the Eastern States of nearly two months. THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 4, 1886 National Bank at Grass Valley. E. C. Frick, J. E. Frick and others have obtained a charter from the Federal Government to establish a First National Bank at Grass Valley, and in due time it will be opened for business. It will be a bank of issue, and mot a private bank. Such an institution is needed here and will be a valuable aid to commercial transactions, and safe for depositors. The bank will start with an ample capital for the demands of the volume of business that is expected to be transacted. County Election Returns.
