[DIED] Our townsman Wm. F. Barger, who has been ill for some months, from a disease of the
heart, deceased on Monday night about 9 o'clock. For some weeks previous to his death he
suffered at times greatly, and frequently his demise was expected at any hour. Mr. Barger
was an old resident of the county, coming from Illinois, settling at North San Juan in the
year 1855. At the time of the mining discoveries in Washoe he went to that region, and for
some years was engaged in mining operations on the Comstock, and subsequently in the
Eastern portion of the State of Nevada. From thence he returned to this county, resuming
his residence at San Juan, but subsequently removed to Grass Valley, where he has been
a resident for twelve or fifteen years. He was a man of a correct and unassuming life,
and numbered many friends in the community. He leaves a wife and daughter ten years
of age. He was a native of Illinois, and in the fifty-third year of age. He was a member of
Manzanita Lodge, F. & A. M. at North San Juan, and also of Highland Lodge, A. O. U. W.

street to-morrow afternoon at 2 o'clock, and will be conducted by the Masonic fraternity.
