Promises To
Reduce —
Smoke, Noise
(Continued on page 4)
_ The Yuba River Lumber
_Co. put forward a program
for noise, smoke, mud and
dust abatement for its Brunswick Road sawmill site, in an
effort to satisfy the objections
of surrounding residents to its
application for an industrial
zoning of the property.
“Attorney Leo Todd, representing the company, appeared before the county
planning commission Monday night to present the program. Some 30 residents of
the Cedar Ridge -Brunswick
Road area attended the meeting, many of whom questioned Todd about the plan or
voiced objection. The hearing wascontinuedto Apr. 24
for further study.
To combat noise at its
proposed planing mill, the
compnay will install "noise
abatement arresters", according to Todd. It will also
plant a protective row of trees
along Brunswick Road.
‘.To reduce smoke, the
company is considering installing a chipping machine
which will chip down for export all raw material now
being burned except bark. If
this machine is not put in,
the company will use new
burners with "smoke abatement-design,” Todd said.
To eliminate mud and
dust Todd said the company
“will put in anything" including blacktop if necessary.
L.E. Woodworth of Cedar
Ridge, a long-time resident
of the area, supported the
company “if they keep their
agreements. "
Among those questioning
Todd or objectingto the
company proposal were Mrs.
Pauline Dodge,Glenn
Sucetti, W.L. Satterlee,
David Maltman, and Gordon
Crane.
Sucetti, who owns three
out-of-county industrial
firms, said he moved to the
area 19 years ago and over

triple-turbine Turboglide,
When one car outsells all the rest the way
this new Chevrolet is doing*—there’s got
to be a reason. And we can think of some
