Nevada City seeks more water .
Nevada City is proceeding on
its search‘ for sufficient water
to avoid spending $100,000 for
a covered water storage tank.
‘John DeHorn, chief engineer
for Cranmer Engineering, reported to the councilmen Monday that Cranmer recommended
the city apply for water rights
to water from Bureau of Land
Management land on Canada Hill,
The city had Gary Tanko dig a
well at Canada Hill which is
capable of producing 47 gallons
of water per minute.
It is the rights for this water
which the city will now apply for.
The council authorized Beryl
‘Robinson Jr., city manager, to
apply to the Water Rights Board,
‘ DeHorn also mentioned water
which comes from a tunnel from
the Murchie mine. The State
Health Board will check the
water this week to see if it is
potable. If it is the council
will discuss further trying to
obtain the water for city use.
Robinson is also checking on
other sites for wells, he told
the council. The city needs at
least 400 gallons of. water per
minute and preferably 500
gallons, to avoid building a covered storage tank, —
