MARY MITCHELL of Grass Valley, a member of the Nevada Union High FFA sold
this 1095 pound prize winning steer at the recent 1974 Junior Grand National
Livestock Exposition at the Cow Palace in San Francisco. Mr. Jack Cook, right,
Cow Palace director, represented Gailen Martin of the Bank of America who
made the purchase. Mary was also Queen of the 1974 Junior Grand National.

Howard Aaron Keltner, 62, of
Napa was booked into jail
Monday charged with traumatic
beating of his wife who was
hospitalized. Bail for the man
arrested on the Washington Star
Route is $2,000. Two sheriff'sdeputies and a California Highway Patrolman made the
arrest.

that 6 applications had been
received for the position of
Justice Court Judge.
A. motion was made, duly
seconded and passed to instruct
the Clerk of the Board to notify
the Judicial Council that there
are 6 applications for the
vacancy in the Justice Court of °
the Nevada Judicial District
Court and request that the
Council designate a Superior
Court Judge to act as_ the
Chairman ofthe oral examining
Board.
County Counsel indicated that
there was an item which needed
to be presented by Attorney
John Larue concerning the
Sierra Pacific Power Company
and an pe sehedsag to renew
their franchise for the Company
in Nevada County.
Mr. Larue appeared before
the Board and requested that the
Board adopt a_ Resolution
stating their intention to grant the renewal of the franchise.
