IT'S BLOSSOM TIME...Peculiar blossoms for goringtiow in the Sierra foothills appeared this Weekend. Sugar Pine Lodge ( above ) on the highway between Grass Valley and Nevada City looked more like an Alpine lodge with a blanket of snow leading between the snow laden trees to the lodge itself. But speaking of snow-laden trees, those along Highway 20 (top, right ) were holding unusual masses of.the white powder as if to boast of the beauty of the only direct highway to Reno noted more for its scenery than its concrete. at White Cloud, And on that highway, ~ the picnic area signs and those telling of where to get fire permits were almost obscured by the drifts. .but not quite hidden.
