~ SECTION A
NOTICE TO CONTRACTORS
1. Sealed proposals for construction of the runway extension,
. installation of the runway lighting
system and the construction of a
reservoir at the Loma Rica Airport, located at Grass Valley,
California, will be received in
the office of the Purchasing Agent
of the County of Nevada, Nevada
City, California, until 11:00 A.M.
onthe 26th day of August, 1964,
at which time they will be publicly opened and read.
2. All proposals shall be made
on the blank forms attached hereto for Schedules A and B. These
proposals shall be enclosed and
sealed in an envelope addressed
tothe Chairman, Board of Supervisors, Nevada County, Nevada
City, California, and shall bear
the descriptive title "Proposal for
Construction of FAAP #9 -04-13201".
3. The work involved consists
of the following:
a. Grading, paving and drainage of the runway extension.
b. Medium intensity runway
lighting installation for the
existing runway extension;
install obstruction lights.
c. Construct a new reservoir, /
provide the necessary supply
canal and extend the distribution ditch and pipeline to¢onnect to the new et

1959, are a patt of this contract.,
Copies of these specifications may
‘be purchased from the Superintendent of Documents, U.S.
Govefnment Printing Office,
Washington 25, D.C., at a cost
of/$2.75 each.
/ 5. Quantities given in the Bid
Schedule are approximate only
and are given for basis of comparison of bids. The contractor
will be paid for the actual work
done including materials and
equipment actually installed at
the price bid in the appropriate
Bid Schedule. The sponsor-reserves the right to reject any or
all bids orto make the award and
waive any informality in any pro~
posal received, inaccordance
with Section 20. Article 20-06 of
the Standard Specifications.
6. Proposal Guaranty: Each bid
shall be accompanied by a bid
bond, money order, certified
check, cashier's check orecash
payable to the County of Nevada
in an amount equal to at least ten
percent (10%) of the amount ot
the total bid, and no bid shall be
considered unless said bid bond,
money order, check or cashis enclosedtherewith, said amount to
be forfeited tothe County of Nevada, Nevada City, California,
should the bidder to whom the
contract is awarded fail to enter
into the contract in accordance
with his bid and submit the required bonds in an amount equal
to the full amount of the bid
price, as referred to in Section
A. Paragraph7, of these Contract
Documents, within tén (10) days
after receipt of notice of such
award,
7. Bonds: A Performance Bond
in an amount of not less than fifty
percent (50%) of the contract
price willbe required. A Work &
Material Bond in the amount of
not less than fifty percent (50%) of
the contract price will be required,
Accombined bond in the amount of
one hundred percent (100%) of the
bid price will be acceptable.
8. Contract Time: All work
shall be completed in 365 calendar days.
9. Guarantee: The successful
bidder shall submit to the Engineer the name of manufacturers
and catalog numbers of each
item of equipment he proposes
to furnish. )
10. Legal Requirements: The
bidder's special attention is directed to the long form/Notice to
Contractors included in anda part
of the Contract Documents referred to herein.
11. The contract award, if
made, will be made within fortyfive (45) days after receipt of
bids. The work shall be commenced within ten (10) days after
the daté the contract is awarded
and shall be prosecuted diligently
soas‘to be completed within 365
calendar days from date of contract award.
12. If the contractor refuses or
fails tocomplete the work within
the time specified, including authorized extensions, there shall
be deducted from monies due the
contractors, not asa penalty, but
as liquidated damages, the sum
of Fifty Dollars ($50.00) for each
working day subsequent to the
time specified and until the work
is completed and accepted.
13. The minimum wage to be
paid for labor on this contract
shall not be less than the prevailing wages for labor which have
been established by the Labor
Commissioner of California and
are attached to the contract
documents.
14. No bid will be accepted
from a contractor who is not licensed by the State of California and to whom a proposal
form has not been issued by the .

15. Plans and Specifications:
Copies of the contract documents,
plans and specifications are on
file at the office of the Purchasing
Agent, N evada County Court
House, Nevada City, California,
and are open to public inspection.
A set of such documents and plans
may be obtained for the amount
of Ten Dollars ($10.00). Logs of
soil borings are available for inspection at the office of the Purchasing Agent.

He was the brother of Samuel S.

Hardy, Sacramento; William
Charles Hardy,: Moses Lake,
Washington; Alice Merritt, Sacramento and Helen Maciel, Antelope Valley. He wasa native of
Pioche, Nevada, aged 83 years.
He served as a deputy sheriff and
in police work, for many years,
“in Santa”Clata County.. He-had
resided locally for three years.
Funeral services were held in the
Hooper-Weaver Funeral Chapel,
August7. Burial was in New Elm
Ridge Cemetery.

Hospital August 6, 1964, Gordon
Eugene Ramsey of Nevada City.
He was the husband of Pauline
Ramsey, Nevada City and son of
Mrs, Jane Ramsey of Nevada City.
He was anative of Brooklyn, New
York, aged 64 years. He was a
member of the American Legion
Post in Lebanon, Oregon. Funeral
services, under tue auspices of
The American Legion, were held
in the Bergemann and Son Funeral Chapel August 8. Cremation
followed.

1964, at Alta Sierra Country
Club, Rodney Willard Nankervis
of Grass Valley. He was the husband of Sandra Lee and son of Mr.
and Mrs, Willard Nankervis, all
of Grass Valley and grandson of
Mrs;-Mary Mortlock, Sacramento. He was a native of Grass
Valley aged 29 years.
First Methodist Church funeral services were
held in the Hooper-Weaver Fun~
eral Chapel August 7. Burial was
‘in the New Elm Ridge Cemetery.

48 years. She came to Grass
