August 13, 1975 Wed., The Nevada County Nugget 3° Ball Memorial Tournament in Concord and first in the sharp shooting team event in the Butte County Combat League. In stiff competition the individual members of the department finished second to 15th. Team members (left to right) at bottom are Keith Gruenberg, Terry Van Etten and Dennis Jensen. In back are Sgt. John Berryman and John Webber. “THE GRASS VALLEY police department has been gaining fame as a sharp shooting force with a number of expert performances this ’ year. Awards are shown that the department has won in various tournaments. Police officers and reserves have been in on the action that brought a first place finish in the recent 15th annual Stockton Police Pistol Championships. The open team finished second. The Stockton tourney is one of the biggest in the nation. The local team also captured second place in the annual Captain Nuclear plant safety in a joint statement. They also reported they have made refunds of $8,030,627 nationally since 1967 because there has never has earneda total of $169,991 in three annuual insurance refunds for 1973, 1974 and 1975. this year’s refund is $63,618. Each refund represents 10 years without a single insurance claim.
