The plane was used to take , flood pictures of the big flood on the River so engineers could determine areas of flooding and weak spots. The pilot and crew wear suits those of the astronauts. These suits weigh 40 pounds. Before each flight medical checks are required and high protein meals are eaten. Specially . trained technicians assist during the pre-flight briefing sessions of about four hours. Fuel consuption is about a gallon per 1.4 miles.
