rs Ss mae5: S of of dd is ir The papers explaining the new insurance on mobile homes came in today, and personally I think that the coverage and prices are fantastic. If your home cost you $10,000 new, -including the awne ings, skirting, perhaps a cabana and you took out a policy with this company that has researched mobile homes and knows their needs, and continue to pay the premiums on the $10,000 for whatever time before a fire or other damage that would make it wunrepairable, the company would write you out a check for the full amount with no depreciation! Quite unlike most policies which call for a cash value (Blue Book) price which, like an automobile, would mean a depreciation of thousands of dollars over a few years time. They will also insure your home if it is over 5 years old, which again other insurance companies will not. I could write a whole column on all the other advantages but will wait until our September meeting to let you hear all about this. Our Golden Chain Chapter #219 of all mobile home owners on private property will meet at the Rough and Ready Grange Hall on Sept. 4 at 7:30 p.m. Please, everyone, try to attend this meeting as there will be representatives from our insurance company to fully explain all the advantages of this policy. You realize of course that this will be for Golden State Mobilhome Owners League members ONLY! Mr. and Mrs. Martin Madewell, He works for Granite Construction and his job will keep him here until the freeway is completed. A Calamity Mrs, Batten who with Mrs. Wise had been intown shopping, parked her car in front of Mrs, Wise's home and got out, took out the groceries, and then the car started rolling forward! Mrs. Batten dropped the groceries?? and ran after it but did not make it. The car crashed into the large tree in front of The Hammersons, totaling the tree out with only minor damage to front end of car, and saving Hammersons Mobile from ex_ By GLADYS HARPER Rt.1,Bx 573-Grass Valley Ph, 273-8954 tensive damage. i Mr. Hap Rylant, Space 1, is taking a two months trip through Oklahoma and Louisiana visiting relatives. This, plus budgetary problems at the University level, is going to have a strong impact on the Junior
Colleges.” Interviews and counseling are already under way at Sierra for the Fall term and Tuesday, August 27 is the last date that applications for admission will be considered, The week of Sept. 3 through 6 has been set for formal registration and Instruction will start on Tuesday, September 10, Two new members have been added to the SC counseling staff to fill vacancies in that department, Henry Akana and Rebecca Gregg were appointed and are already at work assisting new students entering Sierra. Registration for persons desiring to register in person will be open through SS office seeks area’s disabled The Marysville Social Security office began the search today for disabled people in this area, according to Burt Paulsen, officer-in-charge. Paulsen reported that these disabled people, part of an estimated 165000 nationwide, can become entitled to monthly disability payments because of recent changes in the social security law. These changes provide for reduced monthly payments to a severely disabled widow as early as age 50. The disability may have begun before her husband's death, or within 7 years after; Under the same conditions a disabled widower is eligible, but in addition he must have been dependent on his wife for his support. About 100,000 of the people newly eligible for benefits under the recent changes inthe law are young disabled workers who did not have sufficient work credits under the old requirement. Under the new provisions, a worker who became disabled before age 31 needs work credits for half of the time from age 21 to the time his disability began, with a minimum work requirement District clinic slated for Elks August 25th the Sacramento Elks Lodge No. 6 will be host for the District Clinic involving Elks Lodges in Woodland, Marysville, Nevada City, Grass Valley, North Tahoe, Lake Tahoe, Placerville,-Auburn, Roseville, Carmichael and Sacramento, District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler, YubiSeparovich, will conduct the clinic, Separovich said they would discuss advance information for the Elks programs for 1968-69, of one and one-half years. Some of the newly eligible individuals will be reached through contacts with local public and private agencies, Paulsennoted, but most will learn of their eligibility through news articles, radio announcements or by word of mouth, Persons wishing additional information or assistance may visit the office at 1016 G Street in Marysville. Direct check banking Many veterans are finding it to their advantage to have disability compensation or pension checks from the Veterans Administration sent directly to their banks for deposit to their accounts, Gordon R. Elliott, Manager of the Northern California Regional Office, said today. They have learned that checks sent directly to their banks are usually on deposit by the first of each month, or the same time they would be delivered to their homes, Eliott said. However, if veterans are hospitalized, on a trip, or have moved, there isno delay in obtaining the proceeds of a VA check that has been sent directly to their bank, since they can write a check on their account at the bank, Elliott pointed out that all a veteran or a beneficiary need do to have a VA check sent to his bank each month is to advise the bank of his intention and fill out a standard form giving the bank power of attorney to receive his checks. At the same time, he should notify the VA office where his records are maintained to forward his checks to the bank. September 10, Additional information regarding registration, evening classes or Veteran counseling is available from the college by phoning (916) 652-7273, Persons desiring to register for any Fall classes should contact the college immediately since many classes are expected to fill early, Car bust-up set for Fair again One of the big attractions at the Nevada County District Fair is Destruction Derby. Put it on your "must see" list for Sunday, August 25, at 8 p.m. Popular demand has brought the derby back this year. The entertainment is the same as presented by promotor Al Frager last year. Drivers from local areas will be competing for their ‘share of over $650 in cash prizes and trophies. The five-event program will keep spectators screaming and howling while the banging-bumping show unfolds in front of the grandstand. However, spectators should know that although the judges encourage drivers to "make contact", strict rules of safety are enforced. Drivers' doors are not to be hit, all drivers must wear crash helmets and safety belts and all glass is to be removed. Only three gallons of gasoline is availble for each event, so this requires skill as well as nerve on the part of the driver. For those interested in entering, entry blanks and rules may be obtained at the Fairgrounds office. Gates will open at 7 p.m. and the first heat on the program will commence at 8p.m. Tickets will. be on sale in advance on the fairgrounds. . Simplicity ..
