Childers, 5 Malakoff A Potential State Park Site (Con't from page one) the western portion of the county want a state park. A resolution of the Henness Pass Association was read endorsing Malakoff Diggings and North Bloomfield as the most logical site for a park, The Malakoff-North Bloomfield State Park (proposed) drew support from others at the meeting. It seemed to be the only proposed site that would meet a so-called minimum size of 400 acres. After touring the Malakoff “North Bloomfiled area in the afternoon, local representatives and those from the RABIES state were talking about a possibility of a state park including some 1000 acres, Such a park would include the diggings, the town, canoeing on the lake in the diggings, historical sightseeing, fishing, camping (some 400 campsites), and swimming. The Beaches and Parks men would not endorse such a park publicly. They said the proposal should come from Nevada County andit should have the undivided support of the county. Another proposal which was presented tothe officials was one that would see the Henness Pass made a twolane scenic highway, or parkway, across the Sierra, tying in with the proposed Malakoff-North Bloomfield State Park, and making it possible for touriststo take a scenic route across the Sierras without battling billboards or break-kneck freeway speeds. While informally indicating that the Manzanita Diggings seem small for a state park, the officials gave local representatives ideason various uses that it and other suggested sites could play in a western county park program, The men praised Nevada County leaders for the coOperation they said was evidenced at the luncheon. Newlin will be one of the panel speakers at the development conference Saturday. EPIDEMIC .
