The Nugget is interested in all Social activities in our County, It'S readers are your friends and neighbors, Items of general interest should be referred directly to our Society Editor by ~ Calling 265-2471, ‘Couple Married at N San Juan A candlelight wedding service uniting Claudette Reed and Calvin Milhous in holy matrimony was solemnized July 29 in the North San Juan Fire Hall. The Rev. Hartzell Buckner of the Chico Methodist Church officiated at the double ring ceremony. . The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Grant Dahle of French Corral. Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Milhous of the Bakersfield area are the parents of the groom. A street length sheath of light blue lace over taffeta featuring a scalloped hemline was chosen by the bride for her wedding gown. A shoulder length veil of matching blue tulle was secured by a crown of flowers. Her only jewelry was a string of pearls, as something borrowed from her sister, Mrs. Patricia Dale. She carried a cascade of pink and white carnations tied with streamers resting on a white’ Bible. The bride was given in marriage by her father. Mrs. Patricial Dale was her sister’s matron of honor. Her gown of light mint tulle over taffeta was identical to the bride’s and she wore a matching velvet bow crown. She carried a pink and white carnation nosegay with satin streamers. Sandra Reed, daughter of the bride, and Michele Dale, daughter of Patricial Dale, were charming in their little pink and blue dresses as they preceded the bride down the aisle, scattering rose petals from little white baskets. Mark Reed and Johnnie Milhous, sons of the bridal couple, lighted the candelabrum. Frank Milhous, nephew of the groom, served as best man. Monty Milhous and Robert Reed, sons of the bridal couple, were the ushers. 4 Angee red 200 guests congratulated and offered their st wishes to the happy couple at a reception held in the fire hall following the ceremony. Mrs. Dahle chose a dusty pink lace gown with matching accessories for her daughter’s wedding. Tee room’s mother received in a dainty printed ensemle. They both wore pink corsages. The ladies of the North San Juan Methodist church served the tiered wedding cake, punch and coffee. Following a short honeymoon trip to Reno and Lake Tahoe, the couple will be at home on the Milhous ranch near North San Juan. For her traveling outfit, the new Mrs. Milhous chose an aqua ensemble with matching accessories. Among the many out of town relative and guests attending were the parents of the groom. The Golden e Club 28, in the Grass Valley Veteran’s Memorial Building with President Lester Merrifield conducting the business session. Afterwards, a sandwich luncheon was served with the. reminded members bringing their own table service, salads, and desserts. 4 met at noon, Friday, July . Gladys Harper Heads Trailer Home Group Gladys Harper was installed as the new president of the Golden State Mobilehome Owner’s League, Inc., on July 25, at the Grass Valley Mobile Village Club House. Assisting the new president in her duties for the coming session will be: Jerry Howard, vice president; and Rosemary Decker, secretary-treasurer. Ernest F. Glover, Golden State Mobilehome Owner’s League, director of region No. 2, was the installing officer. The new chapter was officially named “The Mother Lode Chapter No. 179”. Through the efforts of. the chapter president, who has proven herself dedicated to the organization for the prevention of higher taxes, it is hoped to further improve the public image of Mobile home living. Following the meeting, those attending were entertained with several musical selections given by Jerry Howard, on the saxophone, accompanied by Rosemary Decker on the piano and Gladys Harper on the electric Banjo. The next meeting of the Mother Lode Chapter No. 179 will be held at 7:30 pem., Sept. 12, in the clubhouse at the Grass Valley Mobile Village. Anyone interested will be welcome to attend this meeting. Church Group Meeting July 19 The Sunshine Circle of Women’s Society of Christian Service of the Nevada City Methodist Church met July 19, at the home of Mrs. Edn Hennessy.
The devotional was given by Reubina Bell. Betty Wright was in charge of the program, her subject being “Everyone needs someone, sometime.” The meeting was closed with prayer. Dorothy Giffin of (od na Springs, and Julie Wright were visitors and were given a big welcome by all present. Members present were: Mmes. Reubina Bell, Doris Bunny, Edna Hennessy, Zelma Litterer, Mae Norton, Mary Perkins, Lucille Sawyer, Ethel Southerland, Betty Wright, Lucille Moore, Ruth Harding, Annie Laurence and Ethel Price. hE HAE Meets Thursday The Neighbors of Woodcraft, No. 325 will meet at 7:30 p.m., . Thursday in the California Hall, Broad Street, Nevada City. Mrs. Amelia Evans will act as hostess. Chairman for the meeting will be Mrs. Adelaide Reilly. There will be no further meetings during the month of August due to the hot weather and va-. cations. The Thimble Club, a branch of the Woodcraft, have also canceled any meetings during the month of August. Bridge Meeting The Nevada County Women’s Card Group will hold its monthly bridge and Bolivia games meeting on Aug. 2. Lois Weeks, Lucia Ward, and Sue Pretzer will be this meeting’s hostesses. Bridge players are welcome to come and play duplicate bridge every Tuesday night at 7:30 at the Bret Harte Inn. To arrange for partners. call 273-7041. Nursery School Event Scheduled Tall Pines Nursery School held a _ fashion -show and buffet luncheon at Alta~ Sierra Country Club last week, as a summer social affair. Approximately 100 ladies enjoyed the event with colorful new fall fashions and delicious food as the afternoon keynotes. Conway’s presented an im pressive collection of eyecatching creations for fall. Linda Murphy of Conway’s commented on we varous ne ale in colors rang from brilliant persimmon and rich ginger to a glowing harvest brown. Delightful colors were also seen in the latest sportswear, Rough & Ready The Rough and Ready Chamber of Commerce met Thursday, July 27, at the home of Mrs. L. Chieve. The meeting was conducted by Mrs. Fay Dunbar, president, with 10 members present. . Many plans were discussed for the future progress of Rough and Ready. One is to have a welcome wagon committee. Also many people do not know of the historical history of the Rough and Ready Ravine, and it is hoped to make this available to the public. The success of. the recent “Secession Day Celebration” is leading to plans for a repeat for a larger and better performance. The next board meeting of the directors will be Sept. 14 at 7:30 p.m. coordinates, cocktail dresses and lingerie. — The stunning models, all participating mothers of Tall Pines Nursery School, were Mmes. Robert Onerato, James Cun-ningham, Charles Antone, Gene. West, Edward Zwiegle and Bill Hamilton. The attractively displayed buffet lunchion, which included a variety of ten epicurean salads, was as delicious at it was elegant. Co-Chairmen Sue Royston and Donna Brust were assisted by committee members Barbara Ford, Melba Heisy, Beverly Clemo, Carol Tremewan, Karen DeHorn and Dorothy Bradford.
