The future of the old kindergarten building, a room for
the educationally handicapped
class and the 1975-76 school
calendar were all discussed at
the Nevada City School
District board meeting
Tuesday.
According to Superintendent
Dan Woodard the old building
was ordered to be torn down,
sold or destroyed through a
contract with the Department
of General Services. Part of
the building has been used for
storage by the district and the
county holds an aphasic class

Sauers and James Morris,
both engineers, recently
looked over the building to
ascertain what can be done
with it. Sauers, who admitted
to being a “saver of old
buildings,” said it was in very
bad condition. ‘I don’t think
we should keep it,’ he said
adding that rot has entered the
wooden walls because there is
no foundation.
President Carl Early said he
hated to tear it down if it could
be used but didn’t “‘think we
should put any money into it.”
He noted that if the county
wants to use it, ‘‘they can fix
the roof and go ahead.”
