the "President ‘sOwn" United
States Marine Band in concert in Grass Valley's Veteran ‘'s Memorial Building,
Oct. 20.

Argentina under the International Farm Youth Exchange program.

matinee and evening concerts by the 55=piece Marine
Band. will be awaikable at-the
Nevada County District Fair
in the 4-H Club headquarters
booth set up in the grassy area
near the livestock pens.

matinee concert especially

school classes.

GRASS VALLEY---A merican
Legion officials of 70 or more
of the 144 posts of First Area
covering 26 northern California counties from Sacramento and Solano northward
tothe Oregon line, took part
Saturday and Sunday in the
first area meeting held in
Nevada County.
New area officers appointed at the meeting are Homer
Vincent of Redding, Shasta
County, adjutant: Watson
McFadden of Petaluma,
Sonoma County, judge advocate and John Koostra of
‘Grass Valley, chiapiain. Several other area appointments
will be made later.
Cliff Betts of Redding, area
commander, presided.
Also taking part were A:
Lee Oder of Berkeley, Alameda County, California department commander; Jack
Stockman of San Francisco,
department adjutant; T. V.
Jones of Santa Rosa, Sonoma
County and Rollo Bennet, of
Los Angeles, commander of
the fourth-area.
Other guests were Joe S.
Moseley of El Monte, Los
Angeles and William Kreitz
of Inglewood, Los Angeles
County, both candidates for
the office of state commander in the coming election.
From the national legion
level. were Jack J. Flynn of
Vallejo, Solano County, national executive committee
member and Curley Ownes,
area commander last year
and now an alternate to the
national executive committee.
After registration at the
Vetérans memorial building
Saturday the legion officials
and their wives and guests
took part in a dinner dance
in the Gold Nugget Inn.
The appointments were
made Sunday morning and
afternoon.
