September 1 st At The Casa Gonzalez
Governors of Legal Secretaries,
Inc, at their quarterly meeting
held recently at Sportsman's
Lodge Hotel in North Hollywood,
selected asthe state group's annual philanthropic project the
awarding of not less than three
scholarships to prospective legal
secretaries entering their second
year of college studies, and another scholarship to a woman
law student. The scholarships,
to be awarded in May, will be
financed through individual ways
and means projects of each of
California 48 associations,

month of August with her grandmother, Mrs. Walter E. Price,

completed: four weeks of individual combat training at Camp
Pendleton,
During the training period, he
received more than 200 hours
of instruction in guerrilla warfare, the use of infantry wea=
pons, combat patrols, and
squad tactics,
His next assignment is four
weeks of basic specialist training to prepare him for a specific
job in the Maring Corps, Marines to be assigned to infantry
units will be taught sub-specialties such as the technical
operation of the machine gun,

Civic Club held a very enjoyable pot luck luncheon under
the trees at the picnic grounds
at Pioneer Park on August 17,
One member took off her shoes
and dabbled her feet in the cool
water of the stream,
After lunch a brief business
meeting was conducted by Mrs,
Winifred Creegan, president.
A letter from the Nevada County
Children ‘s Luke mia Fund was
read and the members voted to
make a contribution of $10 to
that organization,
Tentative plans were discussed
for the Sutter District Convention which will be held here on
April 4-5, 1967, Nevada City
Women's Civic.Club will be
hostesses for the convention and
approximately 200 delegates are
expected to attend, Mrs, Lois
Stevens will serve as chairman
of the committee to make the
arrangements,
