This is $71 million more than during the previous fiscal year. Alltold, motor vehicles meant $956 million in fees and fuel taxes forthe state, and its counties and cities, Cranston said, The largest share, $768 million, was derived from highway users taxes -the tax on gasoline and diesel fuel, driver's licenses and registration fees, and other fees for public motor carriers and operators, A total of $112, 601,326 went directly to California's counties during the 1965-66 fiscal year which ended June 30. Nevada County's share was $346,444.40, Another $72,064,848 went to the State Highway Fund for counties and cities;$51, 668,015 to the State Highway Fund for cities; $394, 268, 896 for expenditure on state highways; and $18,698, 916 for storm and flood damage. An additional $12,465,944 was transferred to the Street and Highway Disaster Fund, The remainder went for administration, collection and law enforcement, Cranston said the bulk of the money was derived from the following sources: Gasoline tax$520, 170,481; Diesel fuel tax$32,469,667. and Registration fees and drivers" licenses, $196, 637,642, That is not the whole story, however, Still another $176 million was shared equally by the counties and cities during the last fiscal year from motor vehicle license fees, oe ate me LS ert at error renitier ati eae
