Bill Waddell took the three on an air tour of the county and they visited a newspaper plant _ in Sacramento, The students brought many lovely gifts for their host families and also gifts from the Japanese Lions Club, sponsor of studentsNevadal County Rainfall Gauge} NEVADA CITY Max. Smith This will be my last contribution to the cookery scene until after the final week of the "best recipes” series starting Sept, 1, Here are a few suggestions for tasty tid-bits you may wish to serve on the patio these warm evenings, All are guaranteed to go well with your favorite beverages, (1) Mix grated, sharp cheddar cheese with finely minced walnuts and roll into bitie-size balls; coat lightly with sour cream and dip into crushed ritzcracker crumbs, Serve impaled on colorful toothpicks, (2) Steam chicken livers until tender, mash thoroughly with sour creamseasoned with a few drops of fresh onion juice and add curry powder to taste. Spread on bite-size pieces of melba toast or assorted small cocktail crackers, (3) Halve hard-cooked eggs, mix yolks with a mixture of sour cream and mayonnaise seasoned with a few drops of Tobasco sauce, salt and fresh ground black pepper to taste,. Fill halves and sprinkle lightly with paprika for color and added flavor, ‘(4 Drain minced clams well, mix with cream cheese, Season with a few drops of garlic juice and salt to taste, Spread on unsalted soda crackers, place under broiler untix mixture rises slightly and turns golden on top. Serve while hot, (5) Grind equal portion of baked ham, and cheddar cheese together, Mix with mayonnaise seasoned with fresh ground black pepper, finely minced celery and a small amount of pickle relish, Spread on toasted fingers of fresh rye bread, Now, don't forget to send your "best" recipe to the Nugget right away.
