Taxi Stand Fee Raised Nevada City Council this week held the first reading of an ordinance amendment to change the fee for taxi parking stands in the city from $3 to $8 per month, Bill Akers, owner of Thumper Cab Co, of Nevada City appeared before the council Monday night to protest the move. He said he thought $3 was too low, but $8 was too high, He offered to compromise at $5, City manager Beryl Robinson explained the $8 figure had been arrived at by taking the monthly meter revenue and dividing it by thenumber of meters in the city.
