> COURAGE, ACTION
nany « not ‘= Sicwe hr geal og own little
we are ‘fully cognizant o all that is happening
toc a communtty,
years ago our forefathers looked at the sky and
sawa : of living in the west. They knew that they would
have a great deal of hardships during the long trek to the
western lands, but they had the courage within them that
‘was the motivating force for them to start west with their
families and their small possessions tucked away in their
wagons. ;
These people had vision, courage and direct, positive acToday, individuals like Sam Partridge and his brother,
together with Mr. Ken Davidson, and other individuals within our midst, are manifesting the same amount of vision,
courage, and direct action here in Nevada County. Take a
<a, little trip up to Wolf Mountain and see the Panoramic Estates
with a Trillion Dollar View started by Sam Partridge. Take
a trip up to Banner Mountain and see the work being done by
. Mr. Partridge’s brother and Ken Davidson. Look. out of
town on the South Auburn Highway and see what they are
quietly doing there. It will give you a thrill and a sense of
respect for these hardy individuals who are acting with courage to back up their vision to prepare our Miracle area for
those who are going to join us with new homes, new families,
new prosperity.
: Is it any wonder that an acre lot sold for over $4000.00
in the Partridge-Davidson Banner Mountain sub-division?
What are our civic organizations doing to help them?
Surely our N. I. D. officials and other officials of necessary
utilities are keeping pace with this new development.
Thus—everyone—we are growing. . Some of us are
thinking big and acting big. Vision, courage, action. And
you can bet your sweet life that our forefathers are smiling
down and saying—“WELL DONE BOYS.”

= AUGUST 24,1959
The Officers and Directors of the 17th District Agricultural Association
welcome you to the 17th Annual Nevada County Fair. ‘
Dozens of exhibits, both interesting and educational, have been secured for e
this year’s Fair and four full days of ente Fcatuaeset. much of it free to Fairgoers,
: has been provided for your enjoyment.
The record number of Exhibitors’ entries, grown ind produced. by. you in
Nevada County, and competing for approximately $30,000 in awards, have been
}) made possible by many hours of careful study and planning of the Premium Book.
Those who have been here in previous years will readily see the many improvements to grounds and buildings over the years; the paving of walks and roadways, the new.dance slab, grass in the arena and the concrete crashwall in front of —
_ the grandstand having been added during 1959.
All of these things have been paid for through money allocated from the
. Pari-mutual Horse Races held throughout the State of California. In past years
a set sum of money was given each Fair Association but beginning in January of
1960 the Legislature has changed the method of providing money for the operation .
of Fairs. We believe entries and attendance will oot’ a large part in the amount
allocated to the Nevada County Fair. ‘
You have siready swelled the entry list and we e hope each and every one of
you, along with your friends, will come to the Fair every day as a record attendance this year will go a long way in making the Nevada County District Fair
eligible for the maximum funds needed to maintain and improve “California’s host
