Bill Harrison Hurt In
~* Olympic Trials Mishap .
Bill Harrison of Los Altos, a
three -time competitor in the Annual T our ot Nevada City bicycle
race, was critically injured Saturday in a collision with an automobile.
Harrison, 19, was in Nevada
City three weeks ago using the
SPORTS
course and surrounding hills in
his training for the Olympic trials
in New York City.
He isnow in a New Jersey hos~
pital in critical condition following the collision Saturday. According to his father, Harold W.
Harrison, the youth suffered three
crushed vertebrae and was paralyzed fromthe waist down, He
wasto undergo surgery Saturday.
The youth, a sophmore at Foothill Junior College anda member
of the Pedali Alpini club of Los
Altos, was the junior race winner
in the first Tour heldin1961, The
following year he took second
place honors in the senior race.

Dove season will open Tuesday,
September 1, and run through
October 10 in the northern twothirds of the state, the Department of Fish andGame announced
this week.
Shooting hours for doves will be
from one-half hour before sunrise
to sunset.
New Federal regulations concerning doves require hunters to
retain one fully feathered wing
attachedtoall dressed migratory
birds, This includes doves, since
they are migratory birds.
Another change in Federal regulations permits doves to be taken
in areas where shelled, shucked,
or unshucked corn, wheat, or
other grain, salt, or feed has been
distributed or scattered solely as
a result of valid agricultural operations or procedures, This includes feed lots and grain storage
