The Christian Women's Club
extends a cordial invitation to all
interested women to attend its
monthly luncheon meeting at the
Bret Harte Inn in Grass Valley
on Thursday at 12:30 p.m.
This month's theme is "Sew
and Show". Many local women
have made dresses for themselves from the same basic
pattern, chosen by the club,
Each woman. will model her
own. creation. in "The Parade
of Fashions";:.the special feature. Three. prizes will be
awarded -one for the prettiest,
one for the most tailored, and one
for the most unusual.
Music will be provided by Judy
Oldert, soprano soloist.
Speaker will be Mrs. Thais
Fritzemeier, chairman of the
El Dorado Christian Women's
Club.
Reservations are necessary
and can be made by calling
Nadine Setzer at 273-4044 by
Monday.
Nursery care for small children is available at the Grass
Valley United Methodist Church,
Arrangements can be made when
placing luncheon reservations.
‘Little merchant’
intends to collect
Four dollars may appear to
be "pin money" to big business,
but: to a newspaper boy delivering under "the little merchant
plan" it is a sizable sum.
An enterprising youth, contending a subscriber has owed
him four dollars since March,
has placed the matter before
the Nevada Justice Small
Claims Court.
The boy's mother is assisting him with his legal affairs,
Local libraries
receive 16mm film,
projector service
Grass Valley and Nevada City
libraries have gained another
service through the two-year
library demonstration project, a
16 millimeter sound projector,
screen and supply of films,
Any adult in the county who
has a library card may borrow
the projector and screen and one
or more films from a constantly changing supply. The filmsare
kept at the Auburn-Placer library and are provided on an
overnight loan basis, as is the
projector. :
The projector and screen will
be housed at the Grass Valley
library.
Both local libraries have lists
of the films available for loan,
Mrs, Emerson said. Patrons
should schedule films several
days in advance to avoid conflicts in booking, >

A law has been passed which
may .make some teachers eligible for ‘old type” credentials,
according to Ed Feilersen,
county superintendent of
schools.

Suit results
from accident
Loretta J. and Barbara Osborne, through their guardian
ad litem Mary E, Cate, are
seeking personal injury dam~ ages of $20,000 from Antonio
Gallegos.
A Superior Court document
filed this week claims Gallegos
was the driver of a vehicle which
collided with one in which the
girls were riding May 9 on Interstate 80. It further contends
that Gallegos was responsible,
through negligence, for the accident in which the girls were
injured.

“This new state law authorizes the initial issuance of
“old type’ credentials include
the kindergarten-primary; general elementary; junior high
school; general secondary; general pupil personnel; elementary, secondary, and general
administration; exceptional
children; special secondaries in
art, music, physical education
and homemaking; and all other
credentials which were authorized under the law in effect Dec.
31, 1963. Such credentials may
be issued to persons who have
completed requirements under
the conditions as set forth in
Senate Bill, which reads as follows:
"Any individual who by Nov.
1, 1963, had completed two years
of college and on this date was
enrolled in a teacher education
curriculum at an approved
teacher education institution or
was teaching in a foreign country.
"This law does not impose a
termination date. However, if
Assembly Bill 740 is enacted, it
may terminate these new provisions of the Education Code authorizing the issuance of an "old
type" credential."

award for
Val Baimas
Mr. and Mrs. Val Baima of
Banner Mountain will receive
a gold medal sweepstakes award
Sunday afternoon honoring them
for their 22 years of entering
agricultural products in the Nevada County District and Sacramento State Fairs.
Tom Bair, manager. of Cal
Expo, will present the award
after the 5th Marine band concert, approximately 2:30 p.m.
at the fair grounds.
The Baimas exhibited the first
time at the local fair in 1947,
have continued to exhibit and take
home dozens of blue, red and
white ribbons, through the years.
They have done equally well in
winning awards at the State Fair.
The gold medal sweepstakes
award to be presented on Sunday will represent all the times
the Baimas have exhibited atthe
two fairs,
