Football Injuries Are Target of
National Tra iner Clinics
A comprehensive, nation-wide program, designed to cut sharply
the number of football injuries among high school and college
athletes, has been warmly received by school Officials all over
America.
Known as the Bike Training Room Foundation Clinics, the
program consists of hundreds
%f lecture-demonstrations given
4
by experts to those responsible for the prevention and
treatment of gridiron injuries.
The importance of the program. is underscored by the
fact that football injuries continue to increase throughout
the country. each year, and
most of them occur in players
fromm 16 to 18 years of age.
“More than 45, Bike clinics
have been held in all parts of
the country already this year,”
said D. L. Thomas, field manager of the Bike Division of the
Kendall Company, sponsor of
the program.
“The programs are well attended by team physicians,
coaches, trainers, and student
trainers,” Thomas said. “We
run the clinics for both college
and high schools officials, and
we do it in conjunction with
the Athletic Association of the
sponsoring university. Often,
the clinics are also sponsored
by the High School Conference
of a given area, or by the
County Medical Sogjety.”
Many of the nation’s outstanding trainers have served
as guest lecturers at the Bike
clinics. Questions concerning
all phases of injury-prevention
and treatment, as well as the
proper use of all of the new
football équipment designed to
prevent player-injury, are
answered.
The Bike Training Room
Foundation, operating under
. the direction of five of the nation’s top trainers who serve
on its board of directors, was
originally designed to stimulate
greater athletic safety by
awarding training room equipment to deserving schools.
“The new direction of the
foundation,” said Thomas,
“grew out of our conviction
that we could be more helpful,
and could reach many more
key people, through training
clinics. In this way, we are of
direct, practical aid to thousands of high school and college football players.”
