the deputy sheriff last night please return it to the information booth immediately? No questions will be asked, " Also heard at the convention Milton K, Mikan, one of the oll owners of M& S Chevrolet Fee Oldsmobile at 314 West Main Street, Grass Valley is looking forward to his new car showing in September, and so are wel Mikan resides in Alta Sierra with his wife and three children, He certainly picked the right place to live because he spends a great deal of time on the Alta Sierra golf course, eseeeses "Fishing" by Jeff Talmage Mrs. Hamilton's Second Grade-— Hennessy School Sunday was this explanation of why RonaldReagan was delayed in making his appearance at the keynote luncheon Saturday at the fairgrounds, “There was a highchop on the water,” commented this wag, “and Reagan had trouble walking on the water, ” The only thing that kept this heavily pro-Reagan crowd from’ throwing this disbeliever off the fairgrounds was the fact that he was the one dispensing bloody marys to the red-eyed delegates, eseeses The new Malakoff State Historical Park in Nevada County had another ranger added to the staff this week with the arrival of Robert N, Irving, Irving, who will be second in command as assistant park supervisor to supervisor Eric Leffingwell, comestothe new park from the Millerton Lake State Recreation Area near Fresno, Irving's wife, 14 year old daughter and 17 year old son will be moving up to the old town of North Bloomfield soon to join the new park ranger, Another son is serving in the Army in Korea, Residents of the eastern end of the county, many of whom have long felt they were the step children of the western part, are taking a serious look at the proposal to create a county chamber of commerce, The Truckee-Donner area, in the heart of the summer recreation region with Donner Lake and Boca Reservoir, and the gateway tothe winter ski resorts ata & ae ey Por hashada highly active chamber of commerce for a number of years, Several of the residents of the area which has managed to effectively promote its own good points without too much aid from anywhere else, is seriously asking why it should help promote the rest of the county, eeesees Again on the eastern scene, renewed and energetic efforts are being made to push the proposal to create an incorporated city out of the Truckee-Donner area, The move has had a spotty history and an almost ludicrous number of extensions of time before the board of supervisors to get the required number of signatures to call an incorporation election, Proponents of the move cite the state and federal funds that would become available to the area as a city to help it solve its road and sewage problems that now go elsewhere because the area is incorporated, Backers of the city idea are faced in the Donner area with the seemingly insurmountable fact that many of the property owners live outside the county and want to have nothing to do with joining a city, Despite the fact that haphazard growth is rapidly threatening to cuin the very things they came to the lake to see, absentee owners seem to adamant in their opposition to the incorporation move and some of the eastern end backers are now talking of lowering their sights and pushing for incorporation ofthe Truckee area and letting Donner fend for itself,
