Dorothy. Simmons Weds Donnie Lenaburg
The First Methodist Church,
Grass Valley, was the setting at
2 p.m., Sunday, August 4, for
ithe wedding of Dorothy Jean Simmons and Donnie D. Lenaburg.
The Reverend Leo Hamilton officiated at the double ring ceremony.
Dorothy Jean is the daughter of
Mrs. Dorothy P. Simmons, 383
Clark Street, Grass Valley, and
the late William Alison Simmons,
Mr, and Mrs. Ernest Lenaburg,
Clinton, Oklahoma, are the parents of the groom.
The bride chose a gown fashioned of. dainty imported chantilly lace over taffeta featuring
ibrief sleeves, scooped scalloped
neckline, repeated at the hem
of the modified ballerina length
!bell skirt. Her shoulder length
silk illusion veil was secured by a
princess crown of pearls and crystal droplets. She carried a white
Bible with white roses and
awe stephanotis.
The bride was given in marriage
; y and escorted down the aisle by
a her uncle, J. Arlon Simmons.

Three From Area To Attend
Los Angles Doll Convention
Leaving for Los Angeles and the
United Federation of Doll Clubs
National convention Aug. 12 will
be Mrs. Lenore Coughlin of Nevada City, Mrs. Gladys Cross, Mrs.
Edith Hancock and Mrs. Lydia
Holub of Grass Valley.
The convention headquarters
will be the Biltmore Hotel, at
which place commercial booths
willbe set upin the Galeria room
and the competitive doll exhibit
will be in the Exhibit ballroom.
Mrs. Coughlin, who was elected:as delegate to the convention
for the Camellia City Doll Club,
willtake with her two of her State
Fair winning dolls for competition.
On the agenda will be work
shops, slice programs, a bus trip
to county museum and luncheon
at the Barnsdale Art Center. A
post convention trip will include
Disneyland, ‘Knott's Berry Farm
and the Hobby City Doll Museum.
Mrs. Coughlin will also take
with her the Camellia City Doll
Club's scrap book on which she
has been working for the past
year. Scrapbooks receive ribbons
and are judged by a competent
group of judges.

Mrs. Roy D. Brooks, Nevada
} City, was matron of honor, Mrs.
Judith Youngsten Bromelli, Oak-:
land, was the secondary attendant. They were dressed alike in
aqua nylon lace and taffeta, featuring scooped necklines, short
sleeves and modified bell skirts.
Dior roses in matching fabric
topped tiny face veils and matching shoes completed the cos> itumes. They carried Esther Reed
daisies in dainty white baskets.
Little Jeffery L. Brooks attired,
as all male attendants, in white
coat, dark trousers and black tie,
acted as ringbearer.
Kenneth Foote, Grass Valley,
stood as best man, Gene Frost,
Harris Cotgias, Arthur W. Mc
Down, all of Sacramento, were
ushers. Karen Simmons was the
. candlelighter.
Preceding the service, Mrs.
Thomas Threldkeld sang “Be
Thou With Them" and “If 1 Could
Tell You", accompanied by Ruth
P. Rockwood at the organ.
Mrs. Dorothy Simmons chose
a beige raw silk sheath with lace
bodice and matching accessories
for her daughter's wedding. Her
corsage was of brown cymbidium
orchids.
A reception was held in the
Home Economics Building, Nevada County Fair Grounds, Grass
Valley.
All parents interested in enrolling their pre-school children
in the fall session of the Tall Pines
Nursery School are invited to attend the annual swimming party
and picnic which will be held at
the home of Mrs. Ruth Heller on
the Colfax Highway Wednesday,
August 14 from 10:30 to 1 p.m.

$163,000 Aid
One of the more pleasant tasks
Sierra College trustees will have
during the next few months is determining how $163,150 in state
aid will be spent on new facilities
at the local college.
The $163,000 allocation was
approved recently by passage of
the state legislature of Senate Bill
1515 Stiern, which determined
allocation of $20 million in state
bond money to 70 junior colleges
throughout the state.
President Harold Weaver noted
state aid for capital outlay ever
givento Sierra College. College
trustees will decide what role the
funds will-take in meeting the
new building needs at the. college. The college is seeking public approval ot a $2.5 million
“second stage" building program
for the campus on Sept. 24.

Tall Pines Nursery School
Registration Opens For Fall

School opens September 16 and
will operate on a Monday -Wednesday-Friday and TuesdayThursday basis from 9 to 11 a.m.
Children from the age of 2 years
9 months through kindergarten
age are eligible to attend.
The Nursery Schoolisa parentcooperative, non -profit organization. The mothers assist the
director on scheduled mornings
and the fathers help by building
and maintaining play equipment.
The Nevada County Fairgrounds
is the setting where the supervised
play for youngsters at the school
takes place. Expenses of operating
the school are met by monthly
dues determined by the size of
the enrollment.
Parents and children who participated in the school last year
will hold a reunion at the swimpicnic. Individuals will bring
their own lunches; punch will be
provided.
