attractive owners are Ken and Dona Dierberger who came to Nevada County from Orange County and opened the restuarant on May 27 of this year. Ken and Dona were attracted to the area while on a trip to investigate another business possibility. -which didn't prove suited to their needs and interests so they decided to @ invest in the Midget Kitchen! Dona's parents were restuarant proprietors for many years and she says. .."I grew up in the business." Ken left the field of electeonics engineering to learn the fine points of cooking and catering from his father-inlaw. The combination of a good teacher and a good student is paying off now. The restuarant is open seven days a week; Monday thru Thursday from 6:30 a.m, until 7 p.m. Friday, 6:30 to 8 p.m.; and on Saturdays and Sundays, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The Dierbergers do take a day off each week Thursday. . . .but they have dependable and experienced employees who make this possible. Three work full-time and one works part-time. . .which makes for ‘very satisfactory scheduling. Featured on the Midget Kitchen menu are breakfasts ranging in price from 60¢ for generous servings of cereal, fruit juice and coffee, to steak and eggs and all the trimmings for $1.90 . Seasonal fruit is also available, and the pancakes and waffles are really great. The luncheon menu features a variety of sandwiches, homemade chili dishes, and hambur_gers to suit the most exacting pocketbook : OWNERS OF The Midget Kitchen are Ken and Dona Dierberger. tastes. . .one in particular that the writer found deliciously different is stuffed with a cheese and mushroom mixture and served with crispy French fries and very good cole slaw. Fresh salads may be ordered separately or as side dishes, including a chef's special at $1.15 for a generous bowlful with your favorite dressing. For those who like a heartier meal, . .a selection of fine steaks awaits the diner's choice, And, adult patrons may accompany their meals with beer, if they prefer that to other beverages offered. The Dierbergers are the parents of a beautiful little daughter named Kerri. . .who is just six and who finds the restuarant full of interest and fun. Among the family's extracurricular interests are Ken's trophy-winning bowling and his love of fishing; and Dona can point with real pride to a number of stunning trophies for her skill in softball. . .these assorted awards may be seen on display at the restuarant. When a bit more settled into community life, membership in civic organizations and a more active participation in area affairs is their goal . Both are anxious to learn to ski and to engage in other outdoor sports so popular inthe Sierra Country. Ken, Dona and Kerri are trailbike riders, and have plans to do a bit of exploring of the many facinating by-ways of Western Nevada County when leisuretime is available for this kind of family fun, Before too long a planned expansion of the restuarant facility will become reality. . .to provide their neighborhood with a pleasant and friendly 'meeting place." This means remodeling the portion of the building formerly used as a garage. They plan to retain the gas pumps as a convenience to motorists, however. Do go out soon and see what's developing at the Midget Kitchen, . .you'll be warmly welcomed!
