Visitors for Thanksgiving
through the weekend at the Ed
Havens’ Belle Haven Farm were
their daughter and family, Mr.
and Mrs. Kenton Bowers, David,
Eddie and Willy, all of SanJose.
Saturday they also attended the
Artists’ Christmas Fair in Nevada City.
Sunshine Valley residents gathered Saturday evening at the’
Paul Pease home off McQuiston
Lane for a housewarming,
Neighbors met Mrs, Andrew
Sherman, Mrs, Pease’s mother
who now makes her home with
Paul and-Jo. Caryl Hacker
decorated a cake with the motto:

The Chester Rameys of Peardale celebrated Thanksgiving
Friday. Guests were _ their
daughter and family, David, Ann
Wallace, Leland and Laurel, all
of Walnut Creek; their son Dinnes and his wife Gayle (Keith)
Ramey of Fresno.
Clara Murphy of Sacramento
spent Thanksgiving and the weekend with her sisters Myrtle
Kimberlin and Leah Bressler.

$108,000 grant for
waste site north of Tahoe .
WASHINGTON, D.C. Congressman Harold T. "Bizz"
Johnson, representing the Central Sierra area, today announced approval of a $108,000
Economic Development Administration grant to help construct
an access road to a garbage disposal site north of Lake Tahoe,
The new solid waste disposal
area will serve portions of Placer, El] Dorade and Nevada counties, The project will be constructed by the Placer County
Board of Supervisors.
Congressman Johnson noted,
in announcing the grant, that a
total of 1.3 miles of roadway
will be constructed. Placer
county will add $72,000 to the
federal grant to finance the total project cost of $180,000,
Congressman Johnson pointed
out that the federal contribution includes an $18,000 bonus
allocated. because the three
counties concerned are situated in the Sierra Economic Development [istrict, a multicounty organization working toovercome mutual problems of
unemployment and low family
income,

"EDA is pleased to join asa
partner in this effort to stimulate roads while protecting the
environment of Lake Tahoe, one
of the nation's scenic wonders,"
