Sierra Doubles Campus Value
Current growth of Sierra College
is exemplified by construction
which will add more than 50 per

of the campus. Value of the
campus will jump from $3.5
million to $5.5 or more with

of an additional $100,000 loan
for expansion of cafeteria-ca mpus

Congressman Harold T, "Bizz"
Johnson, and work onthat

well on their way to completion
next spring.

hammering, crane and tractor
noises to the usual hustle and
bustle of campus noises, the
$290,000 student servicesadministration building was
completed this fall,
The original campus construction occupied for the first time
in the fall of 1961 consisted of 12
buildings built at a $3 million;

than doubled, from 950, all day
students, to2400, and more than
1700 night students,

to be begun again until 1968 or
1969, according to Akers.
Famous Sixteen-To-One .
Mine To Cease Operations
The Sixteen to One Mine, ore
of the last producing mines in
the state, will close down operations in Alleghany, Sierra
County, by the end of the month,
This was announced last Thursday in San Francisco after a
meeting of the directors of Sixteen to One Mines, Inc,
Located in an area that was
once dotted with heavily producing gold mines, the Sixteen
to One has held out over the
years while others in the area
were forced to close because of
the squeeze of steadily increasing
production and labor costs and
an artificially pegged price of
gold,
Some hopes were raised that
the mine might continue operation earlier this year when the
organization's excellent specimen gold collection was put on
auction in San Francisco to raise
money to keep the mine oper"Value" means lightness or
darkness of a hue.

Ghidotti's generous price for
the collection was apparently not
enough to keep the operation
going.
