$767 Total For UNICEF Collection Needy children in the world will have food and medicine totalling $767.25 as the result of Nevada County children carrying UNICEF cartons on their Trick or Treat trips on Halloween. Final totals for the one’ night fund raising campaign were released last week by co-chairmen Mrs. Meris Ingram and Mrs. Alf Heller. In their final news release, the co-chairmen stated they were grateful to the Grass Valley and Nevada City branches of the Bank of America for counting the coins, to the Soroptimist Club which paid for the film “Hi Neighbor” which was shown to more than 1600 children in local schools, to teachers, 4H leaders, churches, mothers of children who participated, andtoall those . donated when the children ap. peared with UNICEF cartons. Individual totals for the groups } who collected in the drive included: Schools, Hennessy, $184.01; Bell Hill, $49.05; W ashington, $55.06; Union Hill, $9.32; Mt. St. Marys, $54.82; Pleasant ‘Ridge, $15.51; Ready Springs, $2.74; John Woolman, $32.95; Gold Flat, $9.30; Nevada City, $87.12; andSeven Hills, $68.41. Churches, Emmanuel Episcopal, $4.80; Trinity Episcopal, 14,80; Church of God, $10.65; and the Nevada City Methodist, $15.80. 4H groups, Nevada City, $19. 61; Kentucky Flat, $3.72; Rough and Ready, $38.00; Meadowlarks, $16.16; Alta-Oaks-Sunset, $10.77; Woodchuckers, $3.15; Spring Hill, $5.47; Shady Creek in conjunction with the MYF, $33.20. Other collections included supermarket donations, $9.33; Tom's Gun Shop, $2.50; Grass Valley Elks, $9.00; and the NevCity Civic Club, $2.00. The event began in 1883, but the error in the sign did not detract from the volume of food donated by school children. As in past years, a parade at 10 a.m. will precede collection of the food.
