Kintz, 19, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert P. Kintz, Downieville, was graduated from the 3d armored division’s _ noncommissioned officer academy Spec. Kintz received training in leadership responsibilities, exercise of command, map reading and military teaching methods. Two rass Valley girls hurt when struck by car Two little girls were struck by a car Sunday afternoon as they were playing near a retaining , wall on South Church Street. Vicky Schwartz has a . fractured left leg and remains a patient at Sierra ,Nevada Memorial Hospital. Lisa O’Meara received emergency treatment at SNMH and was released. Both girls are six and residents of Grass Valley. Vicky is ‘“‘in good condition” the head hospital nurse said. John Oliver Bevard Jr., 24, of Grass Valley was the driver, Grass Valley police report. According to Bevard a cat ran in front of his car at 2:55 p.m. and when he swerved to miss the cat his brakes locked and skidded into the retaining wall where the girls were playing. Neil Hammond, 27, of Auburn is also ‘in good condition” at SNMH following an accident Sunday afternoon on Highway 49 south of Grass _ Valley. Hammond, on his motorcycle, lost control and fell to the pavement, the California Highway Patrol reports. Major damage listed for the motorcycle. . Amotorcycle and car collided Saturday afternoon $n Ridge Road with the cycle driver injured. William Roger Allen, 18, of Hillsborough, was treated at SNMH and released. Benjamin Joseph Elkinton, 26, of Nevada City was the car driver. Minor damage listed for both vehicles in the collision south of Manzanita Drive, the CHP reports. Daryl Eugene Dirks, 23, of Yuba City reported that his car and another car sideswiped on Highway 20 west of Indian Springs Road Saturday afternoon with the driver of the other car ‘fleeing the scene.”’. Minor damage listed for Dirks’ car, the CHP reports. County bridge club winners Winners in recent duplicate bridge games were announced by Kathy Grande.
