William Mullison and Justice Judge Verle Gray, Musical entertainment, ‘all of it enthusiastically received, was presented by a local group which included Joyce Floyd, Dusty Ellison, Merlin Wulf and Howard Neely. The dinner was served by boys of Scout Troop 24, which is sponsored by the Elks Lodge. When it was alf over, the CYA youths were presented with cicarette lighters as gifts from the Elks lodge. The Elks members sat with the wards who told of their appreciation for having a fine substitute to spending Christmas at home. The dinner is held in memory of Jerry Acker, ayouth counselor at the camp who died two years ago. Lizzie Glotzmier, president of the League of Unbiased Women, has donated a $50 bond as first prize in the field of biological science for the 1969 Nevada County Science Fair. s Pay increases given county school chiefs Pay raises have begun for county superintendents of schools in California's less populated counties, and the state will pay all the additional amount. Edward Fellersen, Nevada county superintendent, received a $1,260 salary increase, moving his pay from $12,864 annually to $14,124, Other counties whose superintendents received this raise are: Mendocino, Yuba, Madera, El Dorado, Siskiyou, Tehama, Glenn, Lassen, Tuolumne, San Benito, Del Norte, Inyo, Lake, Colusa, Plumas, Calaveras, Amador, Modoc, Trinity, Mariposa, Mono, Sierra and Alpine. The raise in pay was passed by the 1968 session of the Legislature and increases the annual rate according to class, Class 1 is an enruliment of 750,000 average daily attendance or more with Los Angeles county the only qualifying county. The Los Angeles county superintendent receives $30,561 annually, $14,865 paid by the state and $10,696 by the county, Raises were for classes 6, 7 and 8, Nevada county is in class 7 1,000 to 6,999 ADA, The state pays $12,051 of Fellersen's present salary and the county $2,073. or 14 per cent.
