Hearing Set On Donner Utility Hike The California Public Utilities Commission*has set Jan. 15, 16 and 17 for public hearing on the application of the Sierra Pacific Power Company to revise its electric rates in Portola, Loyalton, Donner Lake, Lake Tahoe, Meyers, Markleeville, Antelope Valley, Coleville and adjacent areas, Commissioner GeorgeG Grover and PUC Examiner Leonard S, Patterson will conduct the hearing, starting at 10 a.m. inthe Tahoe Community Center, . Tahoe City. All interested persons will be given an opportunity to be heard. The utility wants to substitute a standard rate for the present rate zone system, which, it claims, will result in decreases for some customers and increases up to $1.53 a month for others, PUC staff engineers and accountants have completed an independent investigation of the company's operations and financialcondition, which willbe presented at the hearings.
