This week fifty years ago. No word had been received from the missing French dirigible “Dixmude”’ which was believed missing over the Sahara Desert of North Africa. There was a crew of 50 aboard the great craft whose wireless had been silent for some time. Several days later the Commander's body was found floating off the shore of Sicily and all hope for recovery of the craft and the remainder of its crew was soon abandoned. Editorial Comment: ‘‘Murder is rife throughout this country. The number of unjustifiable homicides is shockingly large. It is a real menace, a peril that will not become better of itself.
