DEATHS _ BUT CHER--in Nevada City, November 29, 1964, Samuel O. Butcher, 81, the father of John and Fred of Nevada City, Leroy of Redwood Valley and Charles of W yoming; stepfather of Nellie Downum of Fresno and Harvey Rowland of Chowchilla. He was a native of Missouri and had lived: in Nevada City about a year. Funeral services were held in the Hooper-Weaver Mortuary chapel December 1. Burial was in New Elm Ridge Cemetery. ++ te e+ BURKET T--in Grass Valley, November 29, 1964, Roy Burkett, 72, the husband of Edith, father of Harlow of Barstow and Rosalie Brackert of Carson City, Nev., and brother of four. A native of Indiana, he served as a security guard for the Nevada State Peni-~ tentiary before his retirement. He came to this area four years ago, Funeral services and burial were held in Carson City. Hammer, 82, of Grass Valley. He was the husband of Gertrude; stepfather of Coy Rhodes of Washington; brother of Dorothy Hisel of ‘Los Angeles, Mertie Hammer and Mrs, Horace Propst, both of Washington and grandfather of one. Hooper Weaver Mortuary was in charge of funeral services with burial in the North San Juan Cemetery. ++ eet W HITING -in Grass Valley November 21, 1964, George H. Whiting, the husband of Ann; father of Dorothy Rhodehamel of Grass Valley; brother of Joe of Grass Valley, Carl of San Leandro, Ritta Aissa and Margaret Spreen, both of San Francisco and grandfather of two. He was a na~ tive of Nevada County, aged 66, who followed the mining profession here for 42 years. Private funeral services were held in the Hooper-Weaver Mortuary chapel. She taught school in Nevada City for 13 years and later taught for 11 years in Camptonville, She belonged to the Retired Teachers Association, the Ameri~ can Association of University Women and was acharter member of the Camptonville Women's Club, Funeral services and burial were in Camptonville.
