The figures are from Jan. 1, through the end of the declared fire season, Oct. 30. There were 83 forest fires and 38 non-forest fires. The non-forest fires consisted of structure fires, 13, vehicle fires, 6, improvement fires, 1, refuse fires, 17, and false alarms, 16. There were three mutual aid responses to the Tahoe National Forest, totaling 140 fires and responses. The acreage burned this past fire season was quite low. Acres of timber burned, 34, woodland, 1, brush, 56, and grass, 257, totaling 348 acres. Damage was also quite low as compared to the past few years . Forest fire damage amounted to $2,699 and non-forest fire damage was $42,994.
