Community helps landscape
MAR‘ANN PYLE, a pink lady working at Sierra Nevada Memorial Hospi'a', sits ia the landseaped azaa fn front of the hospital. Ridge Road Garden Club landscaped this area of the hospital
with other local groups choosing their location to landscape.
MARIAN DOYLE poses by the large piece of driftwood which is the main feature of University
Women's landscape area at SNMH. An AAUW member found this piece of driftwood on an
Oregon beach, had help in lifting itup over a 300 foot cliff and another AAUW member brought it
home on top of her station wagon. Colorful plantings will be placed around the driftwood in the
spring. #

grounds of SNM Hospital
With the new wing at Sierra
Nevada Memorial Hospital in
service the barrenness of the
“area around thehospital became more apparent.
Members of SNMH Auxiliary
asked a number of local clubs
and organizations to add color
to the community hospital by
landscaping a small area,
Many responded and at present, not the ideal time for
planting or photographing plants,
a few areas are completed. Ridge
Road Garden Club elected to
plant the traffic circle. Gertrude Owler was chairman for
the landscpaing project which
includes some colorful and unusually shaped rocks and evergreen shrubs and bushes.
A small sign indicates the
area already planted by the Ridge
Road Garden Club and each area
will eventually be signed crediting the participation organization.
University Womenhave placed
a large piece of driftwood in their
area and surrounded it with petrified wood. Plantings will be
placed in the spring. Maritja
Becket is chairman for the project.
The Nevada County Historical
Society donated the dove cote
which formerly was on Lola
Montez home property. Sally
Lewis was in charge of the project.
