Cause of the firesin the famous Argonaut Mine at Jackson on August 22, 1922, which snuffed out the lives of 47 miners, was still unknown according to investigators. The Governor's Committee, in their report stated, “the cause may never be known," * * OF Editorial Comment: "The Panama Canal is justifying the hopes and expectations of its friends. It is a financial success and its construction is such that its safdty is assured. Pessimistic fears of a few years ago, as to slides and damage by earthquakes, have proved groundless.
