Mrs, Rosemary Decker, vice? president of-Nevada county for the Sacramento Yolo Sierra Heart Association announced that the program will feature a demonstration by Mrs. Anne Holtman, home economist for the Pacific Gas and Electric Company, and a discussion by Mrs. Robert Bond, registered dietician. The principles of good nutrition and methods of adjusting menus to meet the requirements of fat and cholesterol controlled diets will be the subject of their talk. Mrs. Decker reported that because of the strong scientific evidence that the typical American diet, high in saturated fat and cholesterol, is one of the important risk ‘factors in the development of coronary heart disease, the Heart association has recommended moderate changes in daily eating habits to reduce the risk of heart attack. In addition, saturated fat and cholesterol-controlled diets are often prescribed as a means of treating heart disease. The program is offered without charge in response to many requests for assistance in learning to prepare such meals. Two new leaflets, "The Way to a Man's Heart" and "Recipes for Fat Controlled Low Cholesterol Meals" will be used asa basis for discussion and may be obtained without charge from the Heart Association at this program.
